Hello my dear Bloggy Buds!
Happy Hump Day!!
So far the past few weeks I have been carrying on about how something big is going down on the family front and I have not been able to share the news with you. I have been begging asking my husband to allow me to blog about it and finally this morning he gave me the ok as long as I keep it off of Facebook so for the handful of folks out there who are on my facebook (you are extra special *wink*wink*) please don't go blabbing on my wall about this or I could be in the doghouse with the hubs!
This news is not anything exciting to you but it is very exciting for us!
We are moving to Wisconsin!
Ok. Ok. I know a lot of you are thinking WTH Wisconsin?!? Are you nuts? It's flippin' COLD over there! I went from being a California gal to Colorado and now this!
My husband's whole family lives in Wisconsin. We have had ZERO family in Colorado and it is very hard on our family to be out here with no support. I'm not talking money. I'm talking about my husband and I never being able to go on a date, or the kids never being able to hang out with their grandparents. When you have family nearby you tend to take it for granted. When you have no one around, that is when you realize how important it is to have family near you.
We have realized this going on 7 years now!
When we built our home I was pregnant with my second son and I thought we would move in and stay a few years and then upgrade as our family grew. Thanks to the economy we are going on 7 years in this house and we are stepping all over each other.
We really felt like we were in a rut for the longest time. A rut we would not get out of for several more years.
Then 3 weeks ago my husband got the call that he was being offered a promotion. Not only was he being offered a huge rewarding position in his company, but he was being relocated to Wausau, Wisconsin which is where most of his family lives!
I was next to him when he got that call and I have not seen him smile that big in a looooong time.
Even though Wisconsin is cold and they have ticks (OMG I have a tick story to share one day!) and I hear it gets pretty muggy some days in the summer...oh and lets not forget I am bound to hit a deer! I know this opportunity is truly a blessing as it is answering so many prayers for us. The reward my children will get from moving to Wisconsin alone is enough to have me on board.
Now all I have to do is dig through years and years of stuff and declutter so our home looks open and airy instead of toys strewn throughout and crap everywhere! We have some minor updates to take care of, and most likely we will need to replace the flooring downstairs. Three boys and two dogs can really make cream colored carpeting look dull!
So as if I don't have a full plate already...I have added a feast to the mix! That feast being putting the home on the market and preparing our family for this next step in our journey! I am not complaining! We are excited about this amazing opportunity.
This does mean my husband will have to travel. It also means that if our home does not sell by Januaryish then he will be going to WI without us. THAT will be a tough one to swallow for me, PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PRAY THAT MY HOME SELLS BEFORE THAT HAPPENS!!! but I am supporting him.
I had a good flow going with my blog. Featured Friend, Caption This...Meatless Mondays...etc. I plan to get back into that rythm again but it will be a while before that can happen. I really put a lot of effort into many of those posts and right now, the thought of commiting myself to bloggy things in advance seems impossible. So for now, until we get the home sold and are settled in Wisconsin, I am just going to wing it. With the exception of Drabby to Fabby. That is the only thing I plan to continue on a regular basis.
I am apologizing in advance if I don't get to rub you in all the right places with comments and affection. I hope the whole having three boys, two dogs, being a SAHM in the day and a working mom nights and weekends, button designer, etc etc and now this moving stuff will give me a little leverage when it comes to bloggy love.
I will try super hard to visit and comment with all my friends but if you feel like you need a hug, because I have not been sharing the love then you are just going to have to remind me. Like my three boys have to muscle their way to the front of the line for my affection. It's not pretty but in the end at least one kid is triumphant!
So I am house hunting online and I must say the folks in Wisconsin have a unique taste when it comes to interior decorating. Let me give you a tour of the homes I will NOT have on my list to buy!
The Colonel may have once resided there but these people need to let him rest in peace! If you look above his photo by the ceiling it looks like he is still hanging out in his man cave. WTH is up with that carpet? ICK!
I have made it EXTREMELY clear to my husband that I will NOT hang dead things with creepy eyes on my walls..
Update much?
oh HELL NO!
Just because you paint the walls green doesn't make it a green kitchen. It just makes potential buyers want to run in the opposite direction.
I bet this lady knits doilies like nobody's business!
Do you think there is any sexytime going on in this room? I bet the bed can get pretty noisy.
I want to take a dump just looking at this mess!
The next few pictures all came from one home...

What in Clutter Hell is going on here?!?!
No wonder why the "Queen is not accepting an audience today" You couldn't fit an audience in that knick knack house of horrors!
The scary thing is I am hoping and praying that this is not a glimpse into my future. Is this what Wisconsin will one day whittle me down to? A clutter hoarding quilt fanatic who can't cram enough junk into her wood paneled den? (Ed, get your mind out of the gutter, pervert!)
I wonder how many Swiffers this woman goes through a week?
If she Swiffers at all...
I'm not getting the sexytime vibe from that room either!
Oh and lastly...if you see an ad for a home with Drop Dead Prices...
You may want to avoid the home tour and just keep going on your merry way!Hope you enjoyed my tour of ugly homes in Wisconsin!
I'm sure I'll find lots more where these came from!
It will be interesting to see what we find on our househunting trip!

21 Cheap Peeps plunked in their two cents!:
You're so damn picky.
That partial brick and red carpet was the shit!
Also, the bed might make some noise, but I'm willing to bet that the fridge makes even more.
I am so excited for you and your family!
What's it like to be successful?
OMG!!! YAY!! How cool!! I am SO excited for you!!! I dont know where WI is on the map (silly canadian geography only teaching us the provinces. :( But now I'm going to look it up...
I'm sad about the whole only 2 people loading up drabby to fabby pics, and hereby pledge to post a pic for EVERY drabby to fabby, regardless of extra entries!
I am so excited!! I just told McHubby and he's like.."Who?"
YAY YaY YAY!! (and I LOVE packing... wish you were closer so I could help (once we got past that whole internet person at your door :P )
Big huge congratulations to you, your husband and your family! It's going to be great. And how amazing is his company? If only more companies were just like that.
Recently I learned that certain folks in the film industry think that people in Wisconsin can't dress themselves if their lives depended on it. I don't THINK that's true but I AM concerned about how well they're able to "dress" their houses! ;o)
Congrats!!! Such exciting news!!!! The homes out there are a little concerning though. Happy house hunting!
You will have so much fun living near your family! It is so much easier!! My husband is from Northern MN. kind of like Wisconsin! Same kind of homes. That was very funny! Congratulations on his new job! That is awesome that the company will pay for all the expenses. Will you have internet in Wisconsin! LOL
Happy cleaning, packing and organizing!
Congratulations on your husband's promotion and the move sounds like a true blessing.
Thanks for the laughs with the photos! And some people wonder why their homes don't sell.... hmmm!
Congratulations on the move. I've been a Realtor for 15 years. Please let me know if you have any questions or if you need any advice. I'd love to feel useful again! ;-)
I know what you mean about being near family. In the States we are about 20 minutes from my parents, and they are about 5 minutes from my boys' school. And we see and talk to them all of the time. Being so far away has made me appreciate them in ways that I can't even explain. Sometimes, actually a lot of the times, I think we think those things for granted. This experience has been a real eye opener for me.
Anyway, good luck on the move. And I meant what I said, please don't hesitate to contact me if you need any questions answered or feel uncomfortable about anything in the process.
Mich
WooHoo!!! My brother lives there and loves it!!!!!!
Can't blame you for saying no to those places! YIKES!!!
Congrats on the promotion and the move!!!
Why did you have to go and post pictures of my house?!?
I entered DTFF, too!!!! I added the link to my post yesterday.
I couldn't bring myself to post a crappy picture of myself because..well...everyone else on my blog would see it. I'm sure my readership would go down. LOL
Congrats Cheesecake! My sister lives all by her lonesome out in Utah and all of us are here in FL. She hates it. It will be soooooo nice for you to have some help!
I certainly wish you luck in your new phase of life!!
Congratulations, that's great news for you!
It was funny last week when I was at the vet's a guy who had just moved from California and he didn't even know what a tick looked like. So, the vet tech had to go hunting for a brochure with a good picture of a tick on it for him. Of course in this part of NJ, he'll find out very soon just what a tick looks like.
By the way, if you are looking for home-hunting humor you need to check out a blog at lovelylisting.com (I'm not at all affiliated with it) she runs a funny site with all sorts of humorous listings. Warning: it is addictive!
Yay! The comments are working again! Did I link up in the wrong spot? I'm going to have to go check.
And I totally hear you on the living away from family thing. It's bloddy unbearable. I haven't had a date with my husband in 6 years!!
Woo hoo--Wisconsin! We're practically neighbours!
Congratulations and it's not so bad here in the Midwest! We don't all decorate like we're in a hunting lodge...well at least most of us don't! :)
Tamara! That's wonderful news! Congratulations! I hope everything works out and that the house gets sold before Januaryish so that you can all start your life in Wisconsin together! :)
Come January, you'd take any of those houses, and you know it.
Some of those are seriously eff'ed up.
From the looks of the photos I am guessing you guys are looking into No. Wis. We have a vacation home up there (not our, the families) and the lodge look is rampant!
But if your in So. WI, WOO HOO! We could meet IRL, how much fun would that be! Good luck with the move...maybe I'll find a drabby picture to link up, I've just been busy...not fabby :-)
Hve fun in WI! Some of the rooms didnt look to terrible. Maybe when you see the houses in person it wont be so bad.
you'll love WI! and believe me not everybody decorates like that. I think you're just seeing the horrible decorators. although i have to admit my dad's 11 point buck is hanging in the basement and it goes up north to the cottage 2 weeks a year for deer hunting to be in the cabin living room for good luck.
Well those photos are certainly atrocious. I hope you guys find something lovely while house hunting! :) Best of luck with the move!!
Having family near makes all the difference! I'm so happy for you and yours, Tam. Good luck with the move. Moving is a real trial.
