This week we are focusing on eyes. We want sultry smoky eyes that grab attention, because let's face it, we all hate the plucking and preening but when it comes down to it we loves that attention! Not to mention the feeling of looking smokin' hot from time to time!

Dipaola Momma: Hey you hawtie Cheesecake mom! I'm in serious need up a vampy type makeover for SITScation in Vegas next weekend. I don't want to show up amongst those super cool bloggy babes looking like dees!

Sure there isn't much I can do about the mini Grand Canyon slowly forming there between my eyebrows. I figure I'll need to go to the HomeDeePot's Do Her Yourself workshop to get enough Spackle to cover the lovely, if 30 years behind past their expiration date, freckels. Wait I guess now they are considered age spots right? So what if I've had them since I was three! Note to Mom Nature, thanks so much for that one. So what's a DiPaola Momma to do my friend? I need some serious drabby to fabby help!

Cheapskate Mom: I just got my Ulta catalog in the mail! I love Ulta! They have everything a girl could want or need and when you become a member of Ultamate rewards you actually earn points that can be redeemed off purchases or their salon! They have makeup artists in store who are willing to help with beauty tips. You should check them out!

DiPaola Momma: You mean there is life outside Sephora? Tell me more about this Ulta you speak of.

Cheapskate Mom: oooh Sephora! Love them too, but I go to Ulta because my points add up and at the end of the year I get like $30.00 off my purchases! Ulta also has all the hair care products found in salons and many times they have a buy one get one deal. I love their liter sales... not to mention the $3.50 off a $10.00 purchase certificates I get once a month! I need to make a trip over there to get some hair serum, my hair gets frizzy in cold weather...I'm getting off track now, aren't I?

DiPaola Momma: {Winds whisk by as she blows out the front door, credit card and hope in her handbag} Ulta here I come! Wow this place has got it all! Now all I need is someone to show me what the heck to do with ALL of it! Left to my own devices I'll probably end up looking more Tammy Fae than any girl in her right mind should. What do we have here? A helpful expert who happens to strongly resemble Amy Adams? Meet Little ULTA Annie

DiPaola Momma: Hi Annie I'm the stay at home mom of four kids, I write a blog because I figure I'll scare off other people's kids if I venture out in public looking like this. I'm going to a bloggers convention in Las Vegas in two weeks. HELP turn me from drabby to fabby and make it stick!

Annie's solution? Smokey Eyes. It's a simple technique with a big POW payoff!

Here is what she recommended:

  • The warm brown color is used over the entire eye stopping short of the browline.
  • The lighter color is intended to use as a highlighter.
  • Apply the highlight color to at the brow line continuing down to the inside corner of the eye.
  • The black is your smoke (in my case more like a smoke screen, do you see them wrinkles, honestly where the heck did they come from?!).
  • With your brush place a small mark (or dot) just to the outside corner of your lid. This will be your guide dot, the point at which you'll stop with the black shadow to save yourself from attracting every male raccoon in a 40 mile radius.
  • Using your brush paint a "V" that starts at your lid along the lash line and extends into the crease of your eye. Don't take it any further in than mid-center of your lid, lest you look like your significant other went Jack Dempsey on ya.
  • Fill in the "V" with the black shadow applying it more heavily at the outer edge to give our eye a longer look.
  • Go back with the all over color you first used to blend in any lines. Apply black eye liner to the upper and lower lids.

And waaaa laaa you have vamped up FABBY smokey eyes!

Cheapskate Mom: Holy cow, woman! I ain't gonna lie to you...you kind of scared me there with those drabby eyes! Wow! You look amazing! Ulta Annie did a mahvalous job!

DiPaola Momma: Oh Annie also gave me another great tip I'd NEVER heard of before. Apply your eye makeup BEFORE your other makeup (including foundation). This keeps you from having to retouch or blend out any "crumblies" that might fall off your application brush.

I also got another super Fabby tip from our friend Lisa Lee over at Learning Beauty Daily!

To get the best use of your mascara and a flawless (non-clumpy) look-- just swipe the wand through a kleenex tissue before applying. This removes all the excess mascara and gives you an even application!

Mascara should be replaced every season---every time you open your mascara and use it, you are contaminating it with bacteria from the wand to the tube.

Ok ladies! Are you up to the Drabby to Fabby Challenge? Get those eyes a-poppin' and don't forget to grab your camera! Post your Drabby to Fabby pics!

To enter to win the Fabby Face Giveaway You can post any photo of yourself going from Drabby to Fabby between now and October 23rd! It doesn't have to be on a Friday! Just be sure to link back through Mr. Linky!

For an extra entry to each Drabby to Fabby post you participate in just grab my button and post it on your sidebar!

I can't wait to see those peepers!

My eyes have gone from drabby to fabby, and I've linked up! I also just realized that 4 of my 6 siblings live in the U.S. so if I win ANYTHING in an American contest EVER, I have 4 separate U.S. addresses I could use aside from my own Canadian one. DUH! I need a vacation...

K, I'm all linked up. Now I'm off to check out the other peeps! I added the button as well!

Linked and excited to have found time to do it. I had to dig into 3 different boxes I have yet to unpack to find what I could. No deep and sexy colors were found, but light and fun were. It has been WAY too long sense I have put on makeup that I had to restart twice due to eyeliner and mascara fubar. I also listed the eclectic mix of cosmetics I used.
My facebook friends are also getting and EYEfull as I am pimping out your site and your drabby to fabby to all my FB friends!

Okay, I added the products to the end of my blog... I didn't even think about that part. And I am super surprised at how many cost-effective products I actually used for this look. :)
I guess I am really proud to be cheap! hahaha...

I did it! It's all posted on my site but can't figure out how to link it up? Isn't there usually a box by the Mr. Linky thing? That sounds really computer literate right?
