I'm a little late getting this post up but I have priorities, people!
Not too long now...then they will be their problem from 8:30-3:30! hehehe
Photo from http://schoolbusdriver.org/Today is a pretty busy day. School starts in less than a week and we are "those people." You know, the ones that have not done any back to school shopping yet. We used to be on top of this stuff, but now that I am working most evenings and weekends, it is hard to get things done in a timely manner.
Good news is I am off tonight so we will be trekking through Target to scrounge around and see what is left of the school supplies. A big reason why I got a p/t gig at Target was because of their employee discounts. I love that place and having a discount is a nice bonus. They were extra nice to us this month and added an additional 10% for August so that is another reason I was holding out on school shopping until now!
In the mail I got two coupons that I plan to use next week for the boys uniforms (they go to a Charter School that requires uniform attire which actually saves us money on back to school clothes!)
I'm feeling generous so I'm sharing the coupon codes with my Cheap Peeps!
JCP Coupon for $10.00 off a $10.00 or more purchase: Online Coupon Code GET4BTS for use btwn 8/10-8/22.
Kohls Coupon for 30% off (for Kohls charge purchases only) Online Coupon Code SAVE30AUG is valid 8/12-8/18
Happy Shopping!
I'm also scouring the pages of my local Recreation Center's seasonal booklet. I love to keep my boys busy and I find the Rec Center to be a handy resource when it comes to providing fun and safe activities for my family. The rates are really cheap! For instance, I am signing my 6 year old up for swimming lessons. I get 10 half hour lessons for $20.00! They also offer lots of fun free things to do so each time I get the pamphlet in the mail, I grab my calendar and start planning out the season! It helps avoid the "I'm bored" moments!
I have a special treat for my Newbies! With cooler weather around the corner, many of you are probably itching to make that Snuggie Purchase.
What if I told you that you may already own a Snuggie and not even know it?
Before you go rushing out to the store, check out my Snuggie For Cheapskates tutorial!

20 Cheap Peeps plunked in their two cents!:

I'll just stick to blanekts. People are always giving me blankets as presents! LOL :)
Why do your kids go back to school in the middle of August?!
Whatever happened to Labour Day?
i didn't know back to school was so early in the States? it's september here in Canada.
That was really generous..Since I don't have kids(not even married!!). So no need to bother about getting money for school items.. Anyways It would've been help for someone else. takecrare.
wow.. is gud blog...
Wow... I wonder if my mom still feels like that... I really like your blog, I'm not a mom (not exactly itching to be one either) but I like how I can kind of understand what my mother might be feeling as she tries to raise me and my brother... I feel sorry for her... I don't have to go to school for another two weeks.... Which is nice for me, but my mother probably wants me gone now.
Foxlady1209 - lol you are funny. I never really thought about what I said from a kid's angle...hmmmm yeah I guess if my boys read this they may wonder if their mom likes having them around. Well, then again they may be itching to exchange me for schoolmates too! I love spending time with my kids but after a looong summer I am happy to have some order and routine back in my life! Thanks for stopping by! :)
School here doesn't start til the 25th.
I think it's different when your kids are in daycare because there isn't really a change to the home routine? We still get up and I go to work and he goes to daycare, so I don't to have the OMG THANK GOD THEY'RE GOING BACK euphoria? lol
I am lucky, my mother works for the board of ed and so she gets MOST of my kids stuff there? And then I just hit Dollar General for the rest!
but am taking note of your tips and coupon tips!!!! you are awesome!
Vacation Bible School is also a very affordable entertainment!
I signed my five year old up for soccer this fall at our Park & Rec; they ARE great, aren't they???
Sounds like your from Seattle?
And by Seattle obviously I mean Denver.
You will be thrilled-Target has a bunch of "hug a tree" backpacks and folders-
I stay away from all that environmental stuff!!!
School here starts in September. But it's typical that shopping doesn't seem to go on very much until the last week of August. That's when so-called sales pop up offering things at "1/2 price", whilst the 1/2 price is actually taken when they mark the price of the item up by 200% in the first place. The joys of back-to-school woes.
We are truly weird in our family these days.... been working on our "debt snowball" through the Dave Ramsey course. This year, instead of taking the school supply list directly to our nearest Target and spending oodles of cash, we are "shopping" our house for supplies. So far, we only had to buy paper, we had everything else from leftover supplies from last year!
Oooooo deals galore then huh.
We still have four weeks still school commences. I am waiting til the last mintue. I have two kids just starting school and two going back and one going into University. (he's on his own man..i can't afford what he needs)
Enjoying your blog in Raleigh, NC
