How Cheapskate Mom came up with the idea for Drabby to Fabby Friday:

It's morning. The kids are refusing to get out of bed for school, my husband is running around the bed frantically telling me to wake up as he rushes to get ready for work.

I lay there. The baby cuddled up next to me. "I'm almost up...I don't want to wake the baby."

Another 10 minutes go by. I can't move. Austin is making his weird noises as he fishes for negative attention, Zach is laying on his floor staring at his school clothes, my husband is going from room to room trying to get everyone on their feet.

Another day. I am blessed for another day. Truly, I am so grateful for this day. As grateful as I am, I am also tired. I have only enough energy to get the kids ready and off to school and spend time entertaining the baby as I shuffle through my day.

I roll out of bed and notice it is chilly out so I put on some pants that are laying by my bed.

I leave my shirt on that I slept in and throw on some shoes, whatever is closest without laces.

I make sure my oldest son has his hair and teeth brushed as I assist my 6 year old with these tasks.

Meanwhile, my teeth? My hair? Yeah...I don't bother quite yet!

After a healthy breakfast of grains and fruit toaster strudel and milk I get the kids loaded up in the car. As I walk out the door I say the same little prayer I do each morning "Dear Lord, please don't let my car break down, or get in an accident, or let me get pulled over because I would hate for anyone to see me like this!"

I put on my big sunglasses and hope they hide enough of my face not to scare the other kids when I drop off my boys!

Upon arriving home, I cater to my baby. When (if) he does nap, I spend a good amount of time on the computer, when I should be cleaning. I tell myself I won't shower and then clean because I'll get all sweaty (my best excuse!) so I pretty much stay this way all day...

Until it is time for me to go to work in the evenings. Sure, I will give my work the courtesy of a fresh smelling, scrubbed clean, bright eyed woman. At work I am bouncing around, smiling, laughing and giving them my best.

The thought has occurred to me that if I were to get up early enough to shower and be dressed before my kids, I may be able to offer more of myself to my family. I may feel better about myself.

Meaning that I could actually walk my kids in to school instead of dumping them out on the curb. I could take my baby to the park to explore the outdoors more often. I could be more like Super Mom if only I could motivate myself to spend a little more time on me. I can't sacrifice "their" time but I can sacrifice some sleep time for me time.

Me time is important so I can take care of myself. So I can feel good about myself. But how to find the time for me time? I need some motivation.

I know a lot of moms that are in this same predicament...This is where the idea for Drabby to Fabby came from.

I want to have at least one day a week where I take the time to put the Wow Factor in my day! I want to look great and feel as great as I look! I want other women like me to have a place to inspire themselves to take a few moments out of the day just for "me" time. A little pampering never hurt anyone!

I never like to do things alone. I need a little encouragement from my friends. I want to also encourage others to have fun and enjoy being a woman for a change!

So from one busy mom to another, I hope you can join me in this journey as we ditch the Drabby and find our Fabby!

I understand this, even when your kids are much older than yours you still are real busy, I still have to get my daughter out of bed for college, I still drive my eighth grader to school for 7:15, I work out of the house 99% of the time, so why dress up! No good reason I can think of..This is a fun idea! I hope a lot of people join in on it! I can't take my drabby photo today because I had an appt. but I will!

Hello there! I'm visiting from DiPaola Momma's blog and I think this is a GREAT idea!

I'd really like to challenge myself to an entire week of getting showered and dressed! As an experiment...of course!

This is a brilliant idea! I'm not a mom, but I'm job hunting (mostly from home making phone calls and filling out online apps...ugh) and some days I don't get out of my pjs! This would be a good motivator for me to get myself together. :)

Ok so let me get this straight please. We are to just make ourselves look nice on Fridays? Is that the deal? Sorry, I'm slow apparently LOL

I'd love to do this because I about teared up reading that you leave the shirt you sleep in on and just put on the nearest pants. I do the same thing daily. Honestly, I wear the same shirt 2 or 3 days in a row. I shower maybe every other or every 3 days. I don't brush my hair; just put it in a pony tail or pigtails. I don't know how to do my hair or make-up. I also only have 2 pairs of pants besides yoga/sweats I fit into. There are few shirts I fit into (my newest baby is only 4 months). That's my dilemma. Can you fill me in more on this drabby to fabby??
